Baptisms and christenings
They are the same thing. Anyone living in the parish may ask, and there is no charge.
- Speak to
- The Vicar
- How far ahead
- A couple of months
- Fees
- There is no fee for a baptism. There never has been.
Baptism and christening are two words for the same service. If anyone tells you otherwise they are mistaken.
There is no charge
Baptism is free. This is worth saying plainly because a surprising number of people believe otherwise and do not ask.
Who can be baptised
Anyone living in the parish, at any age. Adults are baptised here most years, and if that is you, you will not be the only one.
Godparents
Traditionally three, and they should be baptised themselves. If that rules out the people you had in mind, come and talk to us rather than giving up: there is nearly always a way round it.
